In order to solve the defects in normal measurement of atomization performance of crop protection machinery such as spray angle, the distribution of droplet and the drift of droplet ect. A new method based on digital image processing was put forward in this paper.This paper takes normal temperature fog sprayer as an example, puts forward a new measurement for spray angle based on digital image processing technique and analyses the spray angle under different pressure, this new method can not only avoid the unknown interference in spray field, but also reduce error in manual measurement for spray angle. The experiment result shows that this method is both simple and feasible for using. The measurement result is more objective, more reliable than normal methods.In the research of the measurement of droplet deposition distribution in green house, this paper put forward a new measurement based on digital image processing technique which can analysis the whole and part coverage of droplet in sample collection cards. Comparing with the manual method by microscope, this new method considers not only the droplet number information but also the droplet size information, so the result from this method is more accuracy than which from manual measurement.During the analysis of the size of droplet, the deposition velocity and drift of the droplet, images of droplets in spray field has been gathered with using high-speed imager. The parameters of droplet such as size, perimeter, mean diameter, roundness ratio and position etc, have been calculated with digital image processing technology. The 2-D (two dimensions) picture of droplet distribution in spray field has been reconstructed according to these droplet parameters. The trace of droplet in different frames has been tracked with the method, which is based on flag tracking and droplet neighborhood matching probability technique. This method can both realize the motion trace of droplet in different image frames and analyses the horizontal and vertical velocity of droplet.In the end, the hardware and software design strategies applied in the measurement system for atomized performance of crop protection machinery were given in this paper. It laid the foundation for measurement and analysis system for atomized performance of crop protection machinery and advanced crop protection machineries in China.
