| In order to learn the interaction between the agronomic traits of sweet corn hybrids, the paper investigated the genetic characteristics and analyzed the correlation of the major agronomic traits with yield. 12 agronomic traits from 36 domestic hybrids and 96 American hybrids were investigated. On the basis of the relativity of these traits and analysis of variance, comparisons of variation coefficient, heritability analysis, correlation and path analysis and analysis in different sowing dates were taken. The results are following:1. The results of variation coefficient analysisIn the two groups with different source, the trait with the biggest difference among the ten agronomic traits is ear weight. The difference order of the 10 traits in the 36 domestic hybrids is as follows: ear weight >ear length>ear height>TGW>plant height>cob weight>kernel per row> cob diameter >rows per ear>ear diameter; The order of 10 traits difference in 96 American breeds is as following: cob weight> ear height > cob weight > TGW > rows per ear > kernel per row > ear diameter > plant height >cob diameter> ear length.2. The results of Correlation and Path AnalysisIn the 36 domestic hybrids ,the most significant correlation were between cob weight and ear diameter and between cob weight and kernel per row. The correlations between the teaseling stage and the silking stage, the teaseling stage and plant height, the teaseling stage and ear height, the teaseling stage and cob diameter, the silking stage and plant height, the silking stage and ear height, the silking stage and cob diameter, plant height and ear height, plant height and cob diameter, ear height and cob diameter were all significant positive. The most significant correlation were found between ear weight with cob weight, plant height, ear length and ear diameter in the 96 American hybrids. The order of directed contribution to cob weight among the 11 agronomic traits in the 36 domestic hybrids is as following :the teaseling stage > kernel per row > ear diameter > cob diameter > rows per ear >TGW> ear length > plant height >cob weight> ear height > the silking stage, the order of directed contribution to cob weight in the 96 American hybrids is as following: cob weight> rows per ear >TGW> kernel per row > plant height > cob diameter > ear height ear diameter > the teaseling stage > ear length > the silking stage.3. The results of the experiment with different sowing dates:It was obvious that sweet corn planted in Spring or Autumn had higher yield than that planted in Summer. |
