The author studied varieties of relay intercropping maize, sowing period and treatment of seed and made experiment of density and nitrogen-phosphorous mixed ratio in Bole district of northern Xinjiang region. So the author puts forward winter-wheat/maize mixed cultivation modes in this paper. These are the main studied results:1. The key point to select varieties is of early. Winter wheat must have characteristics of early mature, short trunk and height output. Purpose of variety of relay intercropping maize is for early harvesting. The best time to sow for intercropping maize is in middle/end of May. The yield of coated seed is better than that of uncoated one.2. The density of winter wheat harvest is about 5.13×10~6 ~ 5.24×10~6 spikes/hm~2, the density of interplant maize is about 7.26×10~4~7.35×l0~4plants/hm2.3. Relay intercropping maize fertilizers are approximately 540 kg/hm2 of urea and 180—190 kg/hm~2 of phosphorus.4. The benefit of two years, winter wheat relaying intercropping maize was 101.75% higher than that of common one. Interplanting changed simple planting grain-cash crop structure into grain-forage-cash crop structure. It expended the land coverage of plants, shortens uncovered soil time, and improves ecological environment.
