Oryza officinalis Wall ex Watt (C genome) is an important reservoir of useful genes. However, low crossability and limited recombination between chromosomes of the cultivated rice (O. sativa L. A genome) and wild species limit the transfer of such genes. To introgess the valuable genes from O. officinalis into cultivated rice, researches were carried out as follows:1. We analyzed an O. officinalis monosomic alien addition line MAAL7 of rice and its backcross progenies from International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). The results of molecular markers analysis proved the additional chromosome was a mosaic chromosome 7 including the long-arm of O. officinalis, and the short-arm and centromere of cultivated rice. The MAAL was backcrossed to cultivated rice and a backcross population consisting of 109 plants was evaluated for 9 agronomically important traits. We found that the introgressed fragments affected some traits included plant height(PH) Percent seed set(PSS) Percent seed set per cm(PSSPC) Leaf width(LW), 1000-grain weight(TGW) and Spikelets per panicle (SPP). Correlations among these traits are positive.2. We established a complete set of individual chromosome additions from O. officinalis to cultivated rice. M26 is chromosome 7 additional line. We analyzed M26 and its backcross progenies. The results of molecular markers analysis proved a complete chromosome 7 added, using 39 RFLP markers, and 34 polymorphic markers were detected among the parents, 5 markers on theshort-arm only detected the bands of O. sativa. Among 34 polymorphic markers, 23 markers detected the O. officinalis-specific bands and the most of these 23 markers were on the long-arm of chromosome 7. The other markers detected the diflFerent O. officinalis-specific bands. We discuss the results.
