The Novel compound HNPC-A2005, chemical name: 2-mthoxylimino-2-(2-(α-methoxyl- (3,5-bitrifluoromethyl phenzylmethylene) aminoxylmehtyl) benzene) acetic acid methyl ester, is a novel strobilurin fungicide discovered by Hunan Branch of the National Pesticide R& D South Center, and has been filed the patent at home and abroad. Due to the fact that the compound was new, information on the bioactivity and application of the compound is not available. Therefore, the fungicidal activity, mode of action, field efficacy and safety to the crops were investigated in detail in the paper. The whole paper could be classified into the following parts.The part 1 reviewed the advances on the activity, mode of actions of the strobilurin fungicides and some products, and meanwhile the background on discovery of the novel compound HNPC-A4008 was introduced briefly.The part 2 was the biological activity of the compound HNPC-A4008 at the laboratory. The experimental results showed that HNPC-A4008 had a good in vitro inhibition to the hyphal growth and spore germinations of the pathogens such as rice blast Pyricularia oryzae, rice blight sheath Rhizoctinia solani and apple disease Physalospora piricora, but a weak inhibition to the other pathogens such as the cucumber gray mildew Botrytis cinera and Gibberella zeae. In the in vivo test, HNPC-A4008 exhibited a high control efficacy against the crop diseases such as wheat powdery mildew Erysiphe grammis and the rice blast. HNPC-A4008 had a lower efficacy against the rice blast than the commercial derivative products azoxylstrobin and trifluoxystrobin, but higher efficacy than the fungicide tricyclazone. HNPC-A4008 showed the similar efficacy against the wheat powdery mildew powder and cucumber powdery mildew as azoxystrobin and trifluoxystrobin. In addition, HNPC-A4008 showed a good protective and curative activity against the cropdiseases. The EC5o value for the protective action of HNPC-A4008 against the diseases was less than that for the curative action. HNPC-A4008 had a lower systemic action than azoxystrobin, trifluoxystrobin and kresoxim-methyl.The part 3 was the field efficacy of the formulation 10 %HNPC-A4008 EC against the crop diseases. Field trial results demonstrated that HNPC-A4008 had a good, acting-fast and long-persistent efficacy against the cucumber white mildew Pseudoperonospora cubensis and the cucumber powdery mildew, and safety to the crops and beneficial organisms. The recommended dosage for control of the cucumber mildew was 100~200g a.i. /hm2, for the cucumber white powder 10~20g a.i. /hm2. Furthermore, HNPC-A4008 showed some efficacy against the rice blast, and its control efficacy was better than tricyclazone. HNPC-A4008 had no phytotoxicity to the rice.
