The much macro-sand district in the middle area of the Yellow River is regarded as the main source of the macro-sand silting the middle passage of the Yellow River ,it not only makes the regional environment worse and makes the whole human environment reach crisis point, so it is an important district of soil and water conversation .Since 2002,TM and ETM images are used in soil and water conversation monitoring, the resolution of TM or ETM images is low, in order to improve monitoring quality, it is necessary to research on using Spot5 image in soil and water conversation monitoring.Based on studied region of Jiu Yuan'gou drainage area, Suide County, Shaanxi province, dependent on the large number of on-the-spot inspections, comparative laws and drawing support from technology, such as RS , GPS, GIS etc., this paper studied extraction soil and water conversation information, The main results of this study are as follows:â‘ Spot5 multi-spectral image can't provide any information of terrace;The image which was fused by Spot5 panchromatic image with a spatial resolution of 5m and multispectral image can't provide any information of terrace 6-12m in breadth;The image which was fused by Spot5 panchromatic image with a spatial resolution of 2.5m and multispectral image can monitor terrace 10m in breadth;â‘¡Spot5 multi-spectral image can't provide any information of warp land dam;The image which was fused by Spot5 panchromatic image with a spatial resolution of 5m and multispectral image can monitor warp land dam;The position information of warp land dam which was extracted by the image fused by Spot5 panchromatic image with a spatial resolution of 5m and multispectral image is the same as the information extracted by the image fused by Spot5 panchromatic image with a spatial resolution of 2.5m and multispectral image;Compared information of the land of warp land dam extracted by the image fused by Spot5 panchromatic image with a spatial resolution of 5m and multispectral image with information of the land of warp land dam extracted by the image fused by Spot5 panchromatic image with a spatial resolutionof 2.5m and multispectral image, the consistency of area and the consistency of shape is 96.6%and 93.3%,respectively. ?Applying on-the-spot inspection as a criterion, the results of research proved that, the accuracy of the type of vegetation derived from the two fused image through visual judgment is 89.6% and 83.2% respectively;Applying the image fused by Spot5 panchromatic image with a spatial resolution of 2.5m and multispectral image as a criterion, the accuracy of the area of vegetation derived from the image fused by Spot5 panchromatic image with a spatial resolution of 5m and multispectral image is 72%.The objective of this results of the research is to provide reference to the selection of image in soil and water conversation information monitoring.
