The inbred lines of maize consisting of 6 protein content maize (♀)and 8 normal maize (♂) were tested in the incomplete parallel cross design. Genetic effects of 6 kernel traits were studied by genetic model for triploid endosperm plant seeds. GCA and SCA were studied including genetic parameter of 18 Characters such as the ear length, plant height, protein content etc., and synthetic heterosis of multi-character was investigated in maize. The results were as follows:1 The inheritance of all kernel traits were controlled by the endosperm direct, maternal and cytoplasmic effects. The genetic effects had different performances in different characters. Seed length, seed width, 100-grain weight, fat content were mainly controlled by maternal effects. Kernel thickness was mainly controlled by cytoplamic effects. Protein content was mainly controlled by endosperm direct effects.2 The GCA of different parents and the SCA of different combinations had much difference. The inbred lines of different uses were selected: Liaolun 529 had good effect on increasing the yield. Embrace-3 and Qi 301 could improve maize plant type. Embrace-3 and Zhongxi 091 could be favorable to ear length. CA339 was to the advantage of protein content and 178 could be helpful to fat content.3 Synthetic heterosis of multi-character was avestigated in F1 of maize and it could be considered as a reliable parameter to assess the expression of crosses. Eight crosses of high heterosis were selected including Ji 63×huang C, Zhongxi 091×Embrace-2, Ji 63×Embrace-2, Ji 63×Embrace-1, 783 Hang×Embrace-2, Mo14/O2×Embrace-3, Mo14/O2×Embrace-5 and QA205×Embrace-3.
