Based on the Phyllotreta striolata occurrence characteristics, effects of seed treatment, soil treatment and soil treatment combined with botanical chemicals spraying on P . striolata and its host Brassica campestris L. ssp. chinensis (L.) were investigated. The chosen chemical insecticides were 15% chlorpyrifos granules, 3% carbosulfan granules, and 3% carbofuran granules. The botanical pest management products used were tobacco leaf powder, 98% nicotine crude liquid and azadirachtin.Soil treatment with chlorgyrifos , carbosulfan, carbofuran, nicotine or seed treatment with carbosulfan all could control P . striolata effectively. The control effect reached highest 14 days after treatment. The highest efficiency was found in carboasulfan soil treatment at the dosage of 45kg/hm~2 and it was about 70%. Twenty days later, the chemical insecticides soil treated treatments in which the soil was treated with chemical pesticides showed higher efficiency and the peak was near 50%.P. striolata control was found not to directly related to host height or host weight for those in some treatment were even less than controls.Chlorophyll contents in both control and treatments fluctuated during the experiment . Also CK treatments were not directly related to chat.Seven days after treatment, soluble protein content in all the treatments was significantly lower than that in CK. But on 14th day, the contrary happened i.e. protein content in CK was significantly lower than that in the treatments. But on 21st day, protein content in some treatments was lower than CK again.A little like protein content, control treatments could significantly reduce sugar content 7 days after experiment. During the next 14days sugar content in some treatments was still lower. On the whole, control treatment was negatively related to sugar control.Soil treatment combined with botanical insecticides spray could control P . striolata effectively for about 1 moth.. Again, the P.striolata control was found not to directly related to host height or host weight, similarly . Chlorophyll content soluble protein content or sugar content was not directly related to P. striolata control either.
