The combination experiments including field plot experiment, 15N micro-plot experiment and pole culture was conducted using two different winter wheat varieties, Jimai20(strong-gluten) and taishan23(medium-gluten) in experimental station of Shandong Agricultural University in 2004-2005. The effects of different density on grain yield and quality of two varieties were studied at different nitrogen fertilizer rate. The main results as follows:1 Differences of yield and quality formation of two winter varieties1.1 The differences of photosynthetic characteristics and nitrogen absorption of two winter varietiesThe flag photosynthetic rate,Fv/Fm andΦPSⅡof taishan23 were higher than that of jimai20 during 0-28 days after anthesis. The content and accumulation of total nitrogen in plant and allocation proportion of nitrogen to kernel were also higher than that of jimai20.1.2 Starch and protein composition of two winter varietiesNo significant difference were found in amylose, amylopectin and total starch content between two varieties kernels. The gliadin, glutenin and total protein of taishan23 were higher than that of jimai20, but the ratio of glutenin and gliadin of taishan23 was lower than that of jimai20.1.3 The differences of yield and quality of two winter varietiesGrain number per spike of taishan23 was lower significantly than that of...
