This experiment was carried out at the experimental station of Shandong Agricultural University from June 2004 to October 2005. The forming rule of yield and quality of different cultivars and the effect of different potassium fertilizers on Beijing 553 have been studied in pondlet culture. The main results were as follows:1. The yield and quality character of different sweet potato cultivars1.1 The difference of yield and quality among different sweet potato cultivarsThe fresh yield appeared as Y251>GX14>B553, and the dry yield appeared as GX14 > Y251 >B553. The sugar content in Y251 and B553 was higher than that in GX14. The starch and protein content, starch cultivar was higher than edible-type cultivars.β-carotene content, Y251>B553>GX14; Glycoprotein and DHEA content, GX14>B553>Y251; Vc content, B553>Y251>GX14.1.2 The difference of dry matter accumulation among different sweet potato cultivarsThe dry matter of high-starch variety GX14 was higher than edible-type varieties. GX14 and Y251, the distribution proportion of subterranean part was higher. And above-ground part percentage of B553 was higher, so it's yield was lowest. The current of dry matter accumulation per plant of every variety was similar with the current of fresh matter accumulation. No matter dry or fresh accumulation, Y251 and GX14 were higher than B553.
