Diarrhea is common in newborn calves. The acute disease is characterized by progressive dehydration and death, sometimes in as few as 12 hr. In the subacute form, diarrhea may persist for several days and result in malnutrition and emaciation. Several enteropathogens are associated with neonatal diarrhea. Their relative prevalence varies geographically, but the most prevalent infections in most areas are bacteria, rotavirus, coronavirus, and Cryptosporidium parvum . Cases of neonatal diarrhea are commonly associated with more than one of these agents, and the cause of most outbreaks is multifactorial. Determining the particular agents associated with an outbreak of diarrhea can be important because specific therapy is available for some.Trial one Multiplex PCR Detection The Main Pathogen That Caused calves Bacterial Diarrhea Directly From feces Specimens Infection with enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli(ETEC),Salmonellosis and Clostridium perfringens is a marjor cause of bacterial diarrhea in neonatal calves. The aim of the study is to determine the main bacterial pathogen among calf with bacterial diarrhea in Shan-Dong China by the multiplex PCR method. In our study , three pairs of primers were designed according to heat-liable toxin gene of ETEC,outer membrane protein gene of salmonellosis and alpha toxin gene of clostridium perfringens, and can get amplifying products with different length. It's sensitive and specific was detected using bacterial strain and clinical feces specimens. The result revealed that it is a very sensitive, specific and rapid molecular method in epidemiological investigations.Trial two Multiplex PCR Detection Enterotoxigenic...
