Brucellosis is an infectious disease found in animals which also can infect humans. It is caused by bacteria called Brucella, one of the world's major zoonotic pathogens, and is responsible for enormous economic losses as well as considerable human morbidity in endemic areas. As a class II contagious disease which is considered to be a potential bioterrorist agent. The symptoms of Brucellosis are nonspecific and complex which make the diagnosis more difficult. Until recently, there were still no simple, rapid and efficient tests which are needed to identify infected animals and humans and at the same time the vaccines presented several drawbacks. The vaccine strains used for animals are considered too virulent for humans. Hence, it has great significe to develop sensitive and specific detecton methods and more efficient and safer vaccines.
