Chaihu Guizhi Decoction composed of Xiao Chaihu Decoction and Guizhi Decoction, is widely used in the treatment of different kinds of diseases.Objectives:This present paper tries to analyze the ancient and modern literature about the Chaihu Guizhi Decoction, its characteristics of clinical application and its indications in terms of its mechanis, composition of ingredients, trying to find out its clinical application rules and action foundation, which will provide evidence for further study.Research Issues:Clinically it carried out the research of indications, including the problems of digestive, repiratory and nervous systems and mental problems, pains as well as the modification of the original formula.In mechanism study we made a summary about its action on diseases, and its effect on targets.In terms of ingredient composition a summary about its chemical action with various pharmacological measures was done to reveal the relation and intereaction among the chemical compositions,The statistic management was used to analyze the frequency of herbal use in the treatment of diseases.Research Results:1. The literature study about Chaihu Guizhi Decoction only focused on the observation and treatment of externally-contracted diseases and some related reports on its composition.. It had more indications..3. Through analysis it was found that it was used with modifications combined with acupuncture, moxibustion and tuina..4. About its mechanism, stressed was laid on heat clearing and pain killing. It acted to counteract inflammation. virus, spasms, epilepsy,convulsion. And inhibit nervous transmission.5. In terms of herbal use frequency,9ingredients in this formula were of the first choice, and other herbs acted to tonyfy the spleen, qi, nourish yin and activate blood circulation.Conclusions:1.
