Purpose:The purpose of the project experiment was to investigate the effect of silicon oil and heavy silicone oil to be as two kinds of intraocular stuffing to the retina of the rabbits in the medium and long term, to discuss the tolerance of the retina for the two intraocular stuffing,and to compare the security of the two intraocular stuffing.Method:28New Zealand white rabbits were selected with right eyes oprated vitrectomy, and then, they were randomized into three groups:Group A12rabbis, Group B12rabbits, Group C4rabbits. Group A:vitreous body was cut-down and filled with silicon oil; Group B:vitreous body was cut-down and filled with heavy silicon oil; Group C:vitreous body was cut-down and filled with BSS.To record the effect of silicon oil and heavy silicone oil to the retina of the rabbits in the short, medium and long term, to observe the changes of the retina in electrophysiology,toxicity and structures,to analysise the tolerance of the retinal to the two intraocular stuffings and the complications along with,and to discuss the security of the two intraocular stuffings.Result:By the results of this study, we found that after vitrectomy and silicone oil、heavy silicone oil or BSS was tamponaded in rabbit eyes, three groups both had transient ocular inflammatory reaction, cataract, increase of intraocular pressure.However, no significant difference in the incidence of the three groups differences.Examine retina of different periods by light microscopy and electron microscopy,we found the tolerance of retinal to heavy silicone oil is weak to the tolerance of retinal to silicone oil. The edema and necrosis which caused to the retinal cone cells, rod cells, disc membrane, mitochondria, cytoplasm and nucleus by heavy silicone oil is much worse than silicone oil.Its influence and damage level is proportional to the time of silicone oil and heavy silicone oil filling.Conclusion:Silicon oil as intraocular stuffing was relatively safe for the rabbit retinal at the12th week and heavy silicone oil was relatively safe at the8th week. To the human, we suggest that the heavy silicone oil in the eye should be short-term filling, silicone oil filling time can be appropriately extended.
