| Aim:Identify the immature platelet fraction (IPF) of healthy adults in Tianjin and evaluate its value in diagnosis in thrombocytopenia.Methods:The absolute value of IPF(#), the percent of IPF(%), the percent of high-fluorescence IPF(H-IPF)(%) and PLT were detected in peripheral blood from2600healthy adults,23ITP patients,29aplastic anemia (AA) patients,10AML-M3patients and24aplastic anaemia in complete remission (AA-CR) patients by using XE-5000automated hematology analyzer. Furthermore, we investigated the differences between different groups and analyzed the diagnosis value of these parameters.Results:The IPF(#), IPF(%), H-IPF(%) and PLT was0.7-5.6×109/L,0.3-2.8%,0-0.8%and143-333×109/L respectively. Compared with healthy control, the IPF(#), IPF(%) and H-IPF(%) in idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) and AML-M3patients significantly increased (P<0.05), while PLT decreased significantly (P<0.05). The IPF(#) and PLT in AA patients significantly decreased(P<0.05), while the IPF(%) was significantly increased compared to healthy control(P<0.05). The IPF(%) and PLT in AA-CR patients significantly decreased compared with healthy control. The diagnosis sensitivity, specificity and maximum youden’s index of IPF(%) were90%,95.7%and85.7%respectively in ITP patients. The diagnosis sensitivity, specificity and maximum youden’s index of IPF(#) were90.0%,100%and90%respectively in AA patients. The diagnosis sensitivity, specificity and maximum youden’s index of H-IPF(%) were98.3%,69.7%and77.9%respectively in ITP patients. The diagnosis sensitivity, specificity and maximum youden’s index of H-IPF(%) were82.5%,90.0%and72.5%respectively in AML-M3patients.Conclusions:This study establishes the reference ranges of IPF(#), IPF(%) and H-IPF(%) in healthy adults in Tianjin, and proves that IPF(%) and IPF(#) have the important value in the diagnosis of ITP and AA respectively and H-IPF(%) has the important value in the diagnosis of both ITP and AML-M3.
