Objective:To study the protective effect and mechanism of scallop skite-glycosaminoglycan (SS-GAG) on6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-mediated neurotoxic injury. Methods:Cell survival rate was measured by MTT assay. The morphologic changes were observed in cultured SH-SY5Y cells by fluorescence microscope. The percentage of apoptosis and the changes of mitochondrial membrane potential were measured by flow cytometry.Results:SS-GAG promoted cell viability and reduced cell death. Typical morphological changes of apoptosis were observed. In addition, it inhibited mitochondrial membrane depolarization. Conclusion:The results suggest that SS-GAG protected dopaminergic cells against6-OHDA-induced toxicities involved Parkinson’s disease.
