PurposeCoronary atherosclerotic heart disease, generally known as coronary heart disease, is called thoracic obstruction in Chinese medicine. From western perspective, coronary heart disease is triggered by the decreasing of wall elasticity and luminal obstruction brought by the lipid accumulation in stenosis coronary artery intima, or myocardial ischemia, hypoxia and necrosis caused by coronary artery spasm, therefore it is also called ischemic heart disease. In recent years the morbidity and mortality rates of coronary heart disease are increasing year by year, to make coronary heart disease become the first threat to human health. Early prevention and diagnosis become important measures for reducing the morbidity and mortality of coronary heart disease,While coronary artery disease often shows no obvious symptoms or signs in early stage. With the development of science and technology, the alternative diagnostic techniques have been constantly updated. However, there are more or less deficiencies in these diagnostic techniques. The "gold standard" of coronary heart disease diagnosis, coronary angiography, though has a high accuracy, is limited in clinical applications due to its invasion. While, owing the combining advantages of high diagnosis accuracy and non-invasion, coronary CTA has been widely accepted by the patients. The emergence of the diagnosis and treatment technology provide basis of objective and normative with Chinese medicine treatment of coronary heart disease, helping the traditional Chinese medicine theory more objective and scientific. This study focuses on the relationship between the calcium plaque and stenosis situation in the coronary artery calcification score by coronary CTA and TCM syndromes elements, and provides the basis of theoretical and clinical aspects in preventing and curing coronary heart disease with traditional Chinese and western medicine.Materials and MethodsThis study collected the information of 60 patients diagnosed with coronary artery disease using coronary CTA diagnosis in Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. Dongzhimen Hospital, Department of Radiology, from January 2014 to December 2014, including the coronary CTA coronary artery calcification score, stenosis degree of coronary artery and calcification plaque morphology. Then these coronary CTA collected indexes are compared with seven TCM syndrome elements, namely, blood stasis, qi asthenia, turbid phlegm, yin deficiency, qi stagnation, yang deficiency, and cold coagulation. The statistical software for the medical SPSS 17.0 is used in statistical analysis.ResultsStatistical analysis results show 1.60 patients is made up of 35 male and 25 female, more man than women;2.Degree of calcification in patients with coronary plaque from high to low in turn for moderate calcification, severe calcification, slight calcification, a small amount of calcification;3.Patients stenosis in LM is minimum.single state is the most obvious;Stenosis in LAD of patients is maximum.the most state of stenosis is multiple;4.Blood stasis is the main syndrome factor, the same number of yang deficiency and phlegm turbidity after blood stasis, the result is consistented with other research conclusion that the deficiency syndrome of coronary heart disease (CHD) is yang deficiency, solid syndrome is given priority to with blood stasis;5.Patients in different syndromes elements are easy to produce different consequences about degrees of plaque and calcium score height, blood stasis in patients with total calcification score, the highest total number of patches, the most susceptible, yang deficiency is followed;6.The degree of vascular calcification heavier are blood stasis, cold coagulation, yin deficiency and yang deficiency;turbid phlegm and qi asthenia are a lesser degree of calcification;7.Blood stasis is positive correlation with total calcium score, number of patches and degree of calcification;Turbid phlegm with total calcium score, the number of patches, calcification degree is negative correlation.ConclusionBy the analysis of TCM syndrome elements and coronary CTA results including calcification score, calcification degree and plaque situation, a conclusion is drawn that some of the indexes in coronary CTA are related to TCM syndrome elements. Blood stasis is the major impact factor of coronary heart disease and yang also cannot be ignored. To investigate the relationship of coronary CTA with other indicators, further study may need a larger sample. This study could provide theoretical and clinical research evidence for the prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease by integrative medicine.
