Purpose: The quantitative evaluation of variation in multifidus musclemorphology index with respect to individuals in special sitting positions.Material and method: This research will use randomized parallel comparativestudy method. To be more precise, By means of ultrasonography, the multifidusmuscle in three different body positions of all59individuals in special sittingpositions of an organization in December,2013and all51postgraduates of oneuniversity in Shenyang had been measured. After that,21individual’s data whichhad been worked6to8years in special sitting positions is considered asobservation group, at the same time,20random selected postgraduates’ datain the university constitutes the control group. To apply this method, thefrequency of probe in HFUS’s (high-frequency ultrasonography, SonoSiteCompany’s SonoSiteM-Turbo, America) is7.5-14Hz, which is using for themeasurement of multifidus muscle’s L5section in both size and thickness.Patients are taking up RS (rest states), MLCS (multifidus and longissimus musclescontraction state) and MCS (multifidus muscles contraction state) respectively.Then, choose L5section of vertebral spinous as body landmark, which has beendetected by touch and handling, and sign using marking pen. Lastly, place thehigh frequency probe to the targeted L5section of vertebral spinous to measurethe size and thickness of multifidus muscle in both sides of L5vertebral. Theanalysis of all procedure data in this method is using SPSS13.0statisticsoftware.Result:1. The demographics of all complication groups (observation group and controlgroup) are with balance.(P>0.05) 2.The RS, MLCS and MCS of all complication groups, which has been measuredapplying ultrasonography, there is significant difference between observationgroup and control group in terms of size and thickness of multifidus muscle inthree distinctive positions (P<0.05), specifically, data of control groupclearly higher than that of observation group.Conclusion:1. Due to the repetition and long-time loading of anterior flexion, there isa huge increasing of probability to arise flex-instability of lumbar spine inthe group of individuals in special sitting positions. As a result, the ultimateembodiment of people who working in special sitting positions will be multifidusmuscle atrophy, since the instability of lumbar spine which caused by theinstability of spinal centre.2. The ultrasonography embodiment of atrophy in multifidus muscle is the decreaseof size and thickness.3. The application of ultrasonography in the measurement of multifidus muscleis brilliant and suit for large-scale of clinical trial since it have multipleadvantages when comparing with other methods such as CT, MRI andEMG(electromyography) et al.
