Aim To investigate the effect of nicotinamide mononucleotide adenylyltransferase(NMNAT1) on the expression of Tyrosine Hydroxylase(TH) and cysteinyl aspartate specific proteinase 3(caspase-3) in the Substantia Nigra(SN) of Chronic MPTP-Induced Parkinson’s disease(PD) Mice. Methods Before a week of inducing PD models, lentiviruses were injected bilaterally into the Substantia Nigra of mice. Mice were divided into 3 groups: vehicle group,MPTP group, NMNAT1 group. The protein levels of TH and caspase-3 were measured by Western blot. Results Compared with MPTP group, TH expression increased(t=7.985,P<0.001)and Caspase-3 expression decreased(t=8.901,P<0.001) in NMNAT1 group. Conclusion The results suggested that NMNAT1 may play an important role in protecting dopaminergic neurons, and this role may be effective to down-regulate the expression of Caspase-3.
