Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus was an important pest insect of agroforestry. Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus influences the yield of Castanea mollissima Blume. In this paper the biology of gall-maker of Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus was systematically studied.1. Baseded the partition former of Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus larva instar. Based on Dyar-Law, the width of the peristoma of Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus larva was tool to plot larva age. Maked use of SPSS, could find the The linear regression equation of the width of peristoma against the instar numbers was: y = 0.108e0.15x ( R2 = 0.954) . The average of 4 instars the width of peristoma were 0.128mm, 0.1475mm , 0.169mm and 0.197mm.2. Definituded the modality and time of occurrence of Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus in various ages. Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus live larva, pupae, adult and egg 4 instars, larva was about 50 days, pupae was about 15 days, adult was only about 3 days, egg was about 15 days. Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus larva was seen any time in the year, however, pupae and adult were seen from March to September. The larva body of Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus only had two obvious characteristic stoma and peristoma.3. Definituded the function, configuration and chemical composition of Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus gall. Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus gall consisted of outer layers of parenchyma and sclerenchyma, inner parenchyma, and so on; Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus gall provided the food for Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus larva and protected the Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus larva developed; the most chemical composition of gall was 3 species matter which are nitrogen, carbohydrate and phenolics, for instance, chloroplast, and 1-O-(3'-galloyl) -galloy-β-D-glucopyranose and 1-O-(4'-galloyl)-galloy-β-D- glucopyranose.4. Definituded Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus affected the photosynthesis of the host Castanea mollissima Blume. Gall could process photosynthesis, but when Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatus harmed Castanea mollissima Blume, the leafts of Castanea mollissima Blume would atrophy and even died, the gross production of the gall Castanea mollissima Blume photosynthesis was lower than the ungall Castanea mollissima Blume photosynthesis, and some photosynthetic parameters were evidently declined, and range of declined could achieve a half.
