The purposes of this research is to set up the fast testing methods of geometric mean particle size of animal feeds, and obtain the performance data of the main new types of domestic hammer mills. By testing the large number of feed samples with 14-sieve method and 4-sieve method, analysing the corelationship between the two groups of data by regression, the fast testing methods of geometric mean particle size suit for feed ingredients, poultry and livestock feeds, aquatic animal feeds respectively were set up. By testing the performance of new types of domestic hammer mills in practical feed mills, the main conclusions are concluded as follow:Within the scope of this study, compared with 14-sieve method on the determination of the geometric mean particle size of feed samples, 4-sieve method and the methods using the regression formula (2-8), formula (2-9), formula (2-10), formula (2-11) calculating the geometric mean particle size of animal feeds are simple, fast, low cost, and the calculation accuracy is also acceptable. So the 14-sieve method can be replaced by the 4-sieve methods.For Muyang Water Drop King 968-Ⅱand 968 -Ⅲtype hammer mills under the load rate of 85% to 90%, grind corn (moisture content 14.5%, 14.1%, 2.5mm sieve hole size), the output reached to 18.78 t / h, 20.95 t / h respectively, the power consumption per ton showed 3.27 kW?h, 4.33 kW?h, the geometric mean diameter (dgw) were 438.35μm, 464.01μm, geometric mean difference (Sgw) were 2.42μm , 2.30μm respectively.With the operation load rate of 85% to 90%, Multi-chamber Hammermill,grinding soybean meal (1.5mm sieve hole size), the output indicated 10.51 t / h, the power consumption per ton was 10.38kW ? h, dgw 227.28μm, Sgw 1.89μm; For Shanghai Woshi Biaxial Hammermill, grinding corn (moisture content 14%, 1.5mm sieve hole size), the output was 15.08 t / h, the power consumption per ton was 6.8kW?h, dgw 250.08μm, Sgw 1.53μm; For Muyang Exceeder Fine-grinding Hammermill,grinding corn (moisture content 14%, 1.5mm sieve hole size), the output reached 10.5 t / h, the power consumption was per ton 10.12kW?h, dgw 241.90μm, Sgw 1.58μm; For Wider Screen-vibrating Hammermill, grinding crab feed (0.8mm sieve hole size), the output got 4.6t / h, dgw 123.53μm, Sgw 1.77μm.
