Effects of K application on cotton growth and development, the absorption and distribution of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, the endogenous hormones, the formation of output, as well as fiber quality were investigated in the study with variety of Xinluzao 24 through the field and hydroponic combination of cultivation. The main results were as follows:1,Effects of potassium on the development and dry weight of cotton K application showed significant effect in advancing the cotton growth and development, obviously improved each organ and whole plant dry matter accumulation of cotton. The experiment results showed that different concentrations of potassium, the regularity of improvement was that, lower doses treatment > higher doses treatments > control. The absent of potassium affectd the formation of boll directly.2,Effects of potassium on the absorption and distribution of nutritions in cotton K application was conducived to the absorption and accumulation of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, promoted the growth of cotton and chlorophyll synthetic, photosynthesis, improved cotton output. In hydroponic experiment, the total absorption and accumulation of potassium in treatments of (3 mol/L and 6 mol/L), there were 62.1 and 69.8 times to compare with CK, respectively. In field experiment, the total absorption and accumulation of potassium in treatments of 75 kg/hm2 + 1%K2SO4 was the highest, it was increased 402.19 mg/plant compare with CK.3,Effects of potassium on the endogenous hormones of cotton IAA had important functions on the elongation and thick growth of fiber. K application was significantly increased the upper, middle and lower part of the fiber content compare with CK. The regular of IAA in different parts of the fiber was middle > upper > lower. K application can promote the fiber content of GA3, particularly in the upper. K application was also increased the upper and middle lint content of corn meal Z compare with CK. ABA had inhibitory effect on the processing of fiber elongation, K application can significantly decreased the content of ABA in the fiber compare with CK.4,Effects of potassium on yield and cotton fiber quality There was no tangible result that increases the quantity of potassium fertilizer to cotton single boll weight and lint percentage, but it may increase cotton bolls per plant obviously. The potash fertilize effect equation is Y= -0.0404K2 + 6.3193K + 1239.6, the quantity of K application to the maximum cotton yield is 78.21 kg/hm2, which corresponds the maximum yield is 1486.71 kg/hm2.K application can improve the comprehensive quality of fibers in a certain range. In hydroponic experiment, the best fibre quality was showed in treatment(6 mol/L), in comparison of higher concentration treatments of (12 mol/L) and (24 mol/L), the length of fiber, Fiber strength and Micronaire value increased by 0.5-3.4 mm,1.2-5.3 cN/tex,0.3-0.9, respectively. The field experiment results showed that K application can improve fiber length, uniformity and strength. Elongation was no significant difference compare with CK, improved the Micronaire value of upper lint, but there was no obvious difference among the elongation ratio in different treatment.
