Study On The Application Of Plant Group In Residential Areas

Plant group model, as an excellent style for planting design, shows its compositive function for planting in urban space and improves the artistic level for landscape architecture. Being natural, diversified and continuable landscaping construction, it is important and meaningful to make clear to promote the designing level of plant group. Thus, the systematic researches on plant group will indicate the academic significance and practical value as well.The main results were as follow.1.Based on the difference of concepts between plant group and plant community, the definition and the classifications of plant group were discussed.2.Having been investigating plant groups in nine excellent residential areas in Hangzhou for more than one year, configuration of plant groups was analyzed from the following aspects:the relationship between plant groups and building volume, the design of the dimensional sight, the design of color and seasonal landscape, the treatment of terrain.The fine plant group models in the entrance, central green of residential areas and next to house were cited for summarizing features of planting in residential areas, which aimed as improving the level of plant landscape design in residential areas for sustainable development.3. The features of plant group were proved again by plant design in Qianjiang Fangzhou programe located in Jiangsu Province, which provided practical guidance to the residential plant landscape design.
