In order to study the effects of nitrogen application rate and plant population on yield, quality of Flue-cured Tobacco Variety Y87, and give some message for tobacco production in Guiyang, The growth stage, main agronomic characters, physicochemical properties, economic characteristics of Y87 had different Nitrogen application rate and plant population have been studied in this research, The results showed in the following:1.The growth stage of Y87 has postponed has postponed increase of nitrogen application rate, this may be due to the increase of nitrogen metabolism, the time of change over to carbon metabolism delayed, causing postponed the growth stage of Y87.the weight of leaf and elemental area of leaf weight will increased if the nitrogen application rate increased,but high nitrogen application will promote coarsens the tobacco leaf venation, stem percentage of leaf will increase. Suitable increase the nitrogen application rate in favour of open the leaf, especially the top leaf.The total nitrogen and nicotine increase fllow increase the nitrogen application rate. Suitable nitrogen application rate to the benefit on the character of tobacco.But in practical application we found that if had a high nitrogen application rate,the leaf change yellow was very hard,and we difficult to realized that the tobacco leaf wether maturity. Rational nitrogen application rate not only enhance the yield of tobacco,but also improve the character of tobacco leaf.In this research,the yield, quality of Y87 had the best value when the nitrogen application rate was 105 kilogram per hectare.2.The largest effects of plant population on growing development of Y87 was the peak period,this may be due to tabacco need vast fertilizer in this time.The weight of leaf and elemental area of leaf weight will decreased if the nitrogen application rate increased,When the plant population outnumber 18750 plants per hectare,the weight of leaf and elemental area of leaf weight. Duly increase the plant population can reduce the total nitrogen and nicotine of tobacco leaf.But the soluble nitrogen compounds ratio was poor performance when the plant population overtop, and potassium and chlorine content decreased obviously. In this research,when the plant population of Y87 was 18750 plants per hectare,all of the physicochemical properties and yield, quality was the best. up to snuff of superior tobacco leaf.This plant population was the best one of Y87 plant in Guiyang.
