Chrysanthemum lavandulifolium is a diploid species in the genus of Chrysanthemum with simple genetic background. Studies on the mechanism of salt-tolerance in this species could provide useful information for stress breeding of chrysanthemum. The results based on some experiements are as follows:1. The studies on hydroponics of C. lavandulifolium showed that rooting was the decisive factor: annual and young plantlets should be selected as samples; The roots of C. lavandulifolium need enough oxygen in solution, so the crown shluld be above of the surface of solution; new roots from cuttings and cutted plants could hardly be induced in solution. Plantlets could grow normally in Hoagland-arnon nutrient solution, which was refreshed in every two days.2. The characteristics of physiology and biochemistry of C. lavandulifolium treated with different concentration of NaCl solution for different duration were studied. The results showed that C. lavandulifolium could resist to a given salt stress by adjusting of Chlorophyll content, Malondialdehyde content and Catalase enzyme levels. Membrane permeability, Catalase enzyme levels and Malondialdehyde content could be utilized as important indexes to measure the salt-tolerance of C. lavandulifolium, while Chlorophyll content could only be utilized as referential indexes. The treatment with concentration of 100mmol/L or 200mmol/L NaCl lasting for 1 or 3 days could be utilized as referential stress on the expression of salt inducible genes in C. lavandulifolium.3. DIBADH gene promters were transformed to C×moriolium using Hyg 7.5mg/L as selection pressure. The transformation system need further studies. The research results mentioned above could provide some basic datas for studies on salt-tolerance gene resources in C. lavandulifulium.
