Up to now, most studies of responsing to climate in Changbai Mountain have been focused on northern slope and western slope, however, few studys on eastern slope. This paper analyzed the characteristics of climate change in Changbai Mountain and the response of Larix olgensis to climate change, in order to reveal the relationship between growth of Larix olgensis and climate change. We calculated the correlation coefficients between standard chronology, residual chronology, mean annual biomass increment by years of Larix olgensis and monthly mean temperature, monthly minimum temperature, monthly maximum temperature, monthly precipitation, palmer drought severity index, seasonal climatic factors,0℃,5℃,10℃accumulated temperatures, respectively. The main conclusions of this study were as flowing:1. During the last 53 years, the increase rate of the yearly average air temperature on study area in Changbai Mountain was 0.26℃·10a-1 (p<0.05); the mean yearly precipitation showed great fluctuation, decreasing not significantly.2. Statistics characters of Larix olgensis chronologies indicated that Larix olgensis was suitable for dendroclimatology research.3. The standard chronology, residual chronology, mean annual biomass increment by years of Larix olgensis was primarily and significantly affected by climate variables from the year previous to the growing season and only secondly by current year conditions, but the critical months varied respectively; temperatures had more consistent and stronger correlations with growth than precipitation.4. The temperature was main limiting factor for growth of Larix olgensis, climate warming may accelerate growth of Larix olgensis.
