Although the construction of highway has a certain promote on regional economic development, it causes a certain degree destruction of road ecological system, especially to vegetation destruction. Although in construction process builder has taken some ecological protective measures on slope vegetation restoration build plant, due to selected species did not adapt to the local environment early or lacking of maintenance management late, resulting in slope vegetation degeneration. In order to scientifically evaluate road slope vegetation degeneration degree, this paper launch a evaluation index system of road slope vegetation degeneration on the basis of domestic and foreign document and carrying out the application and research on the ecological slope protection of Tong Huang highway, mainly get the following results:(1)In 2001 the builder of Tong Huang highway finish the vegetation planting task of 32.7 million m2 on high and steep slope, and obtaining a better effect at that time, vegetation coverage are more than 50 percent. After nearly 10 years of natural succession,vegetation coverage of some ecological protection type is decreased, some even bare, the species is also reduced, compared with build plant early, vegetation of some ecological protective types appeared different degree of deterioration. This paper mainly analyzes the reason of road vegetation degeneration from regional climate condition, soil environment and engineering factors.(2)This paper gives an evaluation index system that fit to evaluate the road field vegetation degeneration via consultation expert, field investigation and combination of the reasonable analysis of vegetation degeneration system. The system with high practicability is simple to operate and easy to get data. It contains 5 assessment indexes:Community biomass, Vegetation coverage, Community height, Species diversity index and Ecological dominance.(3)After exercising this indicator system on the typical styles of ecological protection of Tong Huang highway followed by utilizing comprehensive evaluation based on analytic hierarchy process, the degradation degree of each ecological protection plants can be obtained that seeding ecological system have no degradation, concrete skeleton ecological system belong to mild degradation, bunch planting ecological system and arch ecological protection belong to moderate degradation, horizontal ditch ecological protection belong to severe deterioration.(4)The results showed the evaluation results of the evaluation system are almost same with the information got from the practical investigation, so it proves that the system is fit to assess the road slop vegetation degeneration level.
