As one of the six important forestry projects, the fast-growing and high yield timber forestry projects has entered the harvest period of the artificially fast-grown forest, the traditional artificial tending and cutting technology can not meet the needs of modern forestry production. So the forest of our country is in urgent need of the cutting joint working equipment, which is a logging harvester. It is an intelligent joint cutting equipment including limbing, measuring,bucking and other functions.This paper mainly studied the passiablity of the logging harvester in forest land. It is a part of the national 11th five-year science and technology support plan of funded project " The key technical of Multi-function forest cut and rear work equipment research and development"(No. 2006BAD11A15).The mountain forest has complex terrain, uneven ground and geological soft. Also, there are stones, stumps, fallen trees, ditches and other obstacles, so the research on the passiablity of mountain forest should mainly include the capacities of crossing vertical obstacles and passing the soft ground, also the stability and anti-skid during the hill working.Based on the introduction of present situation and future trends of the cutting machinery at home and abroad, this paper comprehensively analyzed the type, the obstacle-climbing capability, the sloping stability and the soft ground passiablity of the logging harvester at home and abroad. It provided the use for reference to the passiablity of CFJ-30 logging harvester during the mountain forest working.This paper gave the force balance equation of the logging harvester during the whole process of crossing the step, analyzed the maximum vertical height, which the harvester can cross, and established the 4-dof vibration model. Also, it used the Lagrange's equation to list the system vibration differential equation, derived its mathematical model, found out the frequency and the principal mode, and analyzed its vibration performance. According to the actual parameters of the logging harvester, this paper set up the 3D model with Solidworks, and imported it into ADAMS to do the simulation of the body vibration when the harvester was crossing the obstacles.It analyzed the slope stability of the harvester, separately calculated the maximum angles of gradient at which the harvester can not turn vertically, roll and yaw during the dynamic and static working. Also it worked out the maximum speed during the transverse slope marching.This paper studied the passiablity of the harvester on the soft ground, calculated the diving force and running resistance. According to the tractional coefficient of evaluation indexes, the passiablity was obtained.
