Studied on Elymus nutans artificial grassland planted in Guomaying Town, Guinan County, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province in 2003 year were conducted by using 3 treatments.Treatment 1: Re-planting artificial grassland of Elymus nutans + Avena sativa cv.Qingyin No.1 in June 2008.Treatment 2: Improving artificial grassland with meadow cutting + fertilizing measures in June 2008.Treatment 3: Comparison plot of not improved artificial grassland. The community structure, aboveground biomass, dynamic forage nutritive composition and soil nutrient content were studied in different improved measures of Grain for Green artificial grassland, aimed to understand the effect of improvement measures on degraded Elymus nutans artificial grassland. The results showed:1. In the first year of improved, treatment 1 artificial grassland there were total 3 species, which belongs to 2 families and 3 genera in this plant community, dominant species was Avena sativa, dominance was 77.2%. Treatment 2 artificial grassland there were total 4 species, which belongs to 3 families and 4 genera in this plant community, dominant species was Elymus nutans, dominance was 87.9%. Comparison plot artificial grassland there were total 6 species, which belongs to 4 families and 6 genera in this plant community, dominant species was Elymus nutans, dominance was 66.5%.In the second year of improved, treatment 1 artificial grassland there were total 4 species, which belongs to 2 families and 3 genera in this plant community, dominant species was Elymus nutans, dominance was 71.9%. Treatment 2 artificial grassland there were total 5 species, which belongs to 3 families and 5 genera in this plant community, dominant species was Elymus nutans, dominance was 67.9%. Comparison plot artificial grassland there were total 6 species, which belongs to 4 families and 6 genera in this plant community, dominant species was Elymus nutans, dominance was 60.5%. In the first and second year of improved, the species richness, the diversity index and the evenness index of not improved artificial grassland were all higher than two kinds of improved artificial grassland. In the second year of improved, the species richness, the diversity index and the evenness index of two kinds of improved artificial grassland take on an increasing tendency, in comparison with first year.2. From Mid-July 2008 to Mid-September 2008, each artificial grasslands aboveground biomass all take on a single peak trend with the increase of period of growth. The maximum value aboveground biomass of comparison plot and treatment 2 artificial grassland all appear in the August 23, the aboveground biomass respectively were 223.8 g/m2,283.1 g/m2, the maximum value aboveground biomass of treatment 1 artificial grassland appears in the September 3, the aboveground biomass was 361.7 g/m2. The aboveground biomass of two kinds of improved artificial grassland were all higher than comparison plot in each sampling period, and the aboveground biomass of treatment 1 artificial grassland was all higher than treatment 2 artificial grassland in each sampling period.3. In the first year of improved, total aboveground biomass of treatment 1 artificial grassland increased 45.3%, total aboveground biomass of treatment 2 artificial grassland increased 26.5%, in comparison with comparison plot. In the second year of improved, total aboveground biomass of treatment 1 artificial grassland increased 41.4%, total aboveground biomass of treatment 2 artificial grassland increased 28.7%, in comparison with comparison plot. According to the economic classes, in the first and second year of improved, the gramineae grass proportion of two kinds of improved artificial grassland were all higher than not improved artificial grassland, the gramineae grass proportion of two kinds of improved artificial grassland were all up to 97%, the gramineae grass proportion of treatment 1 artificial grassland was all higher than treatment 2 artificial grassland.4. In the first year of improved, the dominant species height of Treatment 1 artificial grassland increased 21.8%, the dominant species height of Treatment 2 artificial grassland increased 30.9%, in comparison with comparison plot. In the second year of improved, the dominant species height of Treatment 1 artificial grassland increased 32.6%, the dominant species height of Treatment 2 artificial grassland increased 46.8%, in comparison with comparison plot. In the second year, the dominant species height of comparison plot takes on decreasing tendency, the dominant species height of two kinds of improved artificial grassland take on increasing tendency.5. With the increase of period of growth, each artificial grasslands of the contents of crude protein, crude fat and crude ash all take on decreased tendency, but the contents of crude fiber take on an upward tendency, from July 17 to September 18, in 2008. The crude protein contents of two kinds of improved artificial grassland were all higher than comparison plot of not improved artificial grassland in each sampling period. The crude protein content of treatment 1 artificial grassland was all higher than treatment 2 artificial grassland in each sampling period. The maximum value forage crude fiber contents of each artificial grasslands all take on comparison plot >Treatment 2>Treatment 1.6. In the first and second year of improved, artificial grassland whether improved artificial grassland or not improved comparison plot, the content of soil organic matter, total nitrogen, available nitrogen, total phosphorus, available phosphorus decreased generally with the depth of soil, but pH value was opposite trend. Generally, in the first and second year of improved, the contents of soil organic matter, total nitrogen, available nitrogen, total phosphorus, available phosphorus of two kinds of improved artificial grassland were all higher than comparison plot of not improved artificial grassland in various soil depths. The pH value of each artificial grasslands fluctuated ranged from 8.27 to 9.16, the results showed each artificial grasslands soil type belongs to basicity.
