The main physiological changes of yard-long bean stored at different temperature and the effect of plastic films, 6-BA and 1-MCP treatments on postharvest senescence physiology and edible quality changes were investigated. The results were as follows:1. Rate of chilling syndrome of yard-long bean appearing after 3d storage at 3 + 2 °C was 3% after 5d storage. Rate of rot was 17% after 3d storage at room temperature about 2637°C. So the two temperatures were not good for storage. The content of soluble sugar and protein, starch was maintained at 8 ±2℃ and 12 ± 2 °C. But the spot area on the surface of the bean was large and the starch, cellulose content was high, which decrease the value of the bean at 12±2℃. So 8±2℃ was the best storage temperature of yard-long bean packed with 0. 02mm special plastic film based on this paper.2. The increase trend of weight-losing rate and content of cellulose of yard-long beans was reduced at 12±2°C packed with 0.02mm special plastic film, the content of chlorophyll and vitamin C was maintained in the treatment above. But the spot index did not change with package. The increase of weight-lose and cellulose content of the yard-long beans was fast packed in the special plastic film with ten apertures. With the package method the chlorophyll was degraded seriously, but the Vc content maintain at high level. Taken the condition mentioned above, adopting 0. 02mm special plastic film was suitable when packing yard-long bean.3. The decrease of the content of chlorophyll , protein and soluble sugar of yard-long bean was reduced obviously if dipped in 10 mg·Kg-1 and 20 mg·Kg-1 6-BA for 15min, then stored at 7. 8±2℃, the accumulation of cellulose was retarded too. The active climax of POD and PPO was depressed and the increase of the two enzymes' activity was delayed as well. So the two treatments were effective in restraining the development of senescence and benefiting storage. The spot index was the lowest...
