Research On Variation Patterns Of Malus Hupehensis(Pamp.) Rehd

Malus hupehensis(Pamp.)Rehd. distribute in 19 provinces in China. As important apple stocks and decorative plants, lots of researches have been done on botany and horticulture, but the study of variation patterns in their whole distributions has not been reported. In the paper, the study survey of M.hupehensis and the study history of plant variation within species are reviewed detailedly. And the systematic researches on variation patterns of M.hupehensis are done with the method of a series of field investigations and checking specimens, based on classical morphology taxonomy. More than 700 specimens from 9 herbarias of China were checked. A series of field investigations and collections were carried out in Mt. Tianmushan, Mt. Linglongshan of Zhejiang province; Mt. Huangshan of Anhui province; Mt. Taishan, Mt. Mengshan of Shandong province; Mt. Baohuashan of Jiangsu province; and so on. Meanwhile, a lot of specimens were collected. After final statistic, main results below are acquired.1. The variations of flower, leaf and fruit within M. hupehensis individual were studied; wild and cultivated individuals were comparaed. Meanwhile, researches on variations of different positions within individual were carried out.2. Different populations of M. hupehensis in Mt.Taishan were studied, to reveal the variations among different individuals within the same population. The results showed that, a certain elevation cline variation existed among individuals from different populations where there was an elevation changement.3. Systematic researches on mang populations of M. hupehensis in Mt.Taishan and Mt.Mengshan were done. The results showed that, there was an elevation cline variation among the four populations in Mt.Taishan, but the differentiation among these populations was a continuous variation. The differentiation between Taishan population and Mengshan population was obvious, and the results supported the variety' establishment, M. hupehensis var. taishanensis. Meanwhile, the new variety M. hupehensis var. pingyiensis was established.4. The geographical differentiation of M. hupehensis was studied systematically. The characters' distinguishment among different areas were analysed detailedly. Finally, the variation laws of flower, leaf and fruit among different areas were found.5. The origin and migration of M. hupehensis were descripted. The distribution patterns of M. hupehensis in China were inquired into, based on the variation laws of characters and distribution feature.
