The Zhanghe forest farm is located in the north of Hebei province .It borders on Shanxi and Henan province. The Mount Taihang lies its west. The North China Plain meets its east. It belongs to the north warm-temperate zone continental monsoon climate. In order to realize the forest pest sustainable control and promulgate insect community dynamic rule of poplar tree, we studied on poplar tree insect community structure and diversity. The main results and the conclusions are as follows:The underground pest community has the obvious space and time structure. In spring, the kinds and the quantity of the underground pest change in different depth of soil along with the seasonal alternation. The kinds and quantity of the underground pests in 0-5cm depth are increasing and the underground pests in 10-20cm depth unceasingly decrease during the last ten days of February and the middle ten days of of April.The soil moisture content not only influences kinds and quantity of the underground pests, but also affects its vertical distribution in the soil and the time of coming up out of soil. The species abundance, individual amount and diversity index of underground pests in irrigated nursery are higher than that in drought nursery.The insect community structure and diversity in the crown of poplar has obvious characteristic. The plant type influence kinds and quantity of insects. The dominance species of the fast-growing poplar are Leucoptera susinella Herrich-Schaffer,Phyllocnistis saligna Zeller,Phyllocnistis saligna Zeller,Plagiodera versicolora (Laicharting),Micromelalopha troglodyta (Graeser),Clostera anachoreta (Fabricius) and Hegesidemus habrus Darke.The dominance species of poplar are Chaitophorus populialbae (Boyer de Fonscoloube),Hegesidemus habrus Darke,Micromelalopha troglodyta (Graeser),Clostera anachoreta (Fabricius) and Apriona germari (Hope) . Diferrent function groups occupy different proportion in the different type of poplar. The proportion of phytophagous group of fast-growing poplar is higher than that of poplar. Piercing-sucking group and stock group of poplars are higher than that of fast-growing poplar. The diversity and evenness index are increasing along with poplar age except one year poplar. The dominance species of insect community alter along with seasons. Different time has different dominance species. The seasonal dynamic performance of the diversity of insect community changes as the sequence of low -> high -> low -> high -> low.The temporal dynamics of insect communities in different kinds of poplar were analyzed by using system cluster analysis. The results showed that the whole communities of insects were mainly divided into four phases which are beginning phase, transition phase, flouring phase and withdraw phase.
