Seven new lines which were BHBJ1, BHWS2, BHDX3, BHAWL4, BHJR5, BHSHS 6andBHXM 7 were selected from original material in seven alfalfa populations, then established clones with cutting. This experiment put the seven new lines as research object. Productive characteristics and quality were measured in all year 2005. The main conclusions were as follows.1. The seven new lines budded earlier and had long flowering period. Inflorescence of alfalfa with white flower was raceme, there was not big difference in flower numbers between different lines, average was 17-25, every branch had 16-19 pods, every pod had 2-3 circles, every circle had 4-6 seeds. BHJR5 and BHSHS6 seeds color was hoary, the others were brown, thousand-seed-weight was 1.8-2.5g.2. Average growth speed of seven alfalfas with white flower lines are faster than corresponding parents in every development stages. But from reviving stage to branching stage the growth speed of BHDX3, BHAWL4 and BHJR5 are lower than corresponding parents. From all of reviving stage to blooming stage, we can see that BHBJ1 and BHDX3 are also lower.3. Height was measured in first cutting blooming stage.BHXM7 was highest of all and was 105.7 cm. Seven alfalfa with white flower compared with corresponding parents, BHBJ1 and BHDX3 were lower than their parents. The others were higher than their parents.4. There was big difference between seven alfalfas with white flower in re-growth. The first cutting was fast , so was the second cutting. Re-growth of BHWS2,BHAWL4,BHJR5,BHXM7 were faster than their parents in first cutting. The BHAWL4 was the fastest of all and was 3.05 cm/d. Besides of BHAWL4 and BHJR5 in the second cutting, the others were lower than the corresponding parents. The re-growth of alfalfa with white flower had difference in different cutting. All of the first cutting was faster than the second cutting.5. Stem/leaf ratio of all of seven lines was lower than that of the corresponding alfalfa varieties in both cutting. In the first cutting stem/leaf ratio of BHJR5 was the lowest and in the second cutting stem/leaf ratio of BHSHS6 was the lowest. Besides of BHWS2 fresh weight/dry weight ratio in the first cutting, the others were higher than corresponding parents. BHBJ1 had the highest fresh weight/dry weight ratio and was 4.6. Alfalfa with white flower had lower yield, because of short growth years. In the second cutting fresh weight/dry weight ratios of all of the seven new lines were higher than their parents. BHSHS6 was the highest and was 4.18. From both cutting, we can see that alfalfa with white flower were better than corresponding parents in...
