Evaluation Of Papaya Cultivars Resources For Resistance To Papaya Ringspot Virus

Papaya ringspot virus (PRSV) is one of the most important diseases of papaya in the world, especially in the south and southwest of China. So we had made systematic researches on evaluation of resistance resources and screened out the excellent resistant cultivars, as a result, we established the foundation for the spreading of PRSV resistant cultivars in Hainan Province and for the antivirus breeding.The research material provided by Hainan Academy of Agricultural Sciences Fruit institute. It includes yue huan, yue hong, yue you 1st, yue you 2st, Taiwan 2st, you 8, sunrise, mei zhong hong, Eksotika II, Eksotika III, Eksotikaâ…¥, Hawaii 1st and Sui zhong hong .We identified the resistance to PRSV through investigations in laboratory and in natural conditions. The main results are followed:1. The identification system of the papaya seeding stage and adult plant stage resistance to PRSV showed that :The results of seedling resistant identification showed that :we got four immunity(I)materials, accounted for 30.77 % in all, it is yue huan, yue hong, yue you 1st, yue you 2st; We got zero High resistance (HR) and Moderately resistant(MR)material; We got one Resistance (R) material, accounted for 7.69% in all, that is Taiwan 2st; We got two Susceptible(S)materials, accounted for 15.38%, it includes Eksotika III and Hawaii 1st; We got six Highly susceptible(HS)materials, accounted for 42.15% in all, it includes you 8, sunrise, mei zhong hong, Eksotika II, Eksotikaâ…¥and Sui zhong hong .
