Establishment And Preliminary Application Of The Equine Coronavirus RT-PCR Detection Method

Equine coronavirus (ECV) could curse the newborn horses sick with the clinical feature of water-like diarrhea, fever and pathologic of lymph. A RT-PCR procedure to detect the virus was developed with a pair of primers based on the GenBank data about the NP sequence of ECV. The RT-PCR products showed a 400 bp in electrophoresis analysis. The method is high sensitivity and specificity. With this method, 3 of 30 samples from horses feces were found positive. The products of RT-PCR were cloned and sequenced. The results showed the fragment sequence have high homology with published data of ECV. The method could be used in controlling and finally diminished the ECV.
