The research of this paper is a part of the National High-tech Development Program named " research and development of the key equipment of sprinkler and drip irrigation system (item number:2004AA2Z4010)". Based on the theory of the fluidic sprinkler controlled by output clearance, the parameters of the fluidic sprinkler controlled by output clearance including the flow passage, the sphere of action and the reversing mechanism are designed. In the course of design, the structural parameters are corrected based on the experiments results. Finally, six products of the PXH10, PXH15, PXH20, PXH30, PXH40 and PXH50 are developed successfully.The contents and the results of the research are as follows:(1) The situation of fluidic sprinkler in both China and other countries has been introduced, and the current problem of the sprinkler existing in China has also been put forward. The foundation and the significance of this program have been analyzed, then the course of development and experiment of fluidic sprinkler have been given in detail.(2) Based on the index of " 863 " plan, the structural parameters of 6 kinds of fluidic sprinkle controlled by output clearance are designed.(3) The hydraulic performance test is needed for the further optimization of structural size of fluidic sprinkler. And the test system is improved successfully on the foundation of traditional test equipment, and water distribution measurement system is applied based on the field bus; The endurance experiment system and anti-abrasive experiment system have been developed successfully too.(4) The influential factors to the hydraulic performances, such as distance from sprinkler, water distribution and droplet size are obtained based on plenty of experiments. The test result offers a basis for design method of the fluidic sprinkler controlled by output clearance.(5) Based on the structural parameters of 6 kinds of fluidic sprinkler controlled by output clearance, orthogonal experiments with PXH30 have been carried out. Combination of optimum structural parameters have been gained with the consideration of distance from sprinkler, flow, water distribution, and so on.(6) The anti-abrasive experiment and endurance experiment are developed, and contrast test with impact sprinkler is carried out for the same model.
