Along with the rapid progress of the domestic economy, it is becoming more and more important to use the water resources comprehensively and take optimal management for it to ensure the duration of agriculture production and it's steady and balanced development as the water resources is becoming less. Large and medium irrigation districts play a significant role in agriculture production and even the domestic economy. There are 5600 large irrigation districts being used at present, 402 of them are large irrigation districts which area are over 300 thousand acres, it's general planning irrigation areas are of 2.88 hundred million acres, it's about 35% of the nation's effective irrigation areas, and 14.7% of the nation's arable land areas. As most of large irrigation districts has the comparatively perfect water-saving system, water delivery system and regulation system, it plays an important role in regional and drainage water resources allocation.Scientific irrigation water schedule for irrigation district and decreasing water delivery losses is a significant technical method to develop water-saving agriculture. Considerable work has been done by domestic and foreign researchers, but the current optimal water schedule models for irrigation canals were set up on the basis of the supposed condition that the lower canals have the same discharge, which is out of touch with most actual facts. The thesis aimed at this point, viewing from actual conditions of irrigation district, set up an optimal water schedule model for the two-level canals under unequal discharges of lateral canals, and then researched the multi-level canals'optimal water schedule model on the basis of the former model. After that, the thesis also researched the GA coding and fitness function's design method of the two models, programmed it in C program, used VB for designing visible interface, applied the model into real example and compared the optimal schedule with the original schedule. The results showed that lower canals water delivery time combination of canal system optimal water schedule defined by the model and it's algorithm is more reasonable than the real water schedule and upper canals'discharges are more even, which correspond to the principle of optimal water schedule, it shows that the models and it's algorithm the paper put forward is feasible, it can provide the theoretical and technical...
