Three high quality Chinese cultivars crossed with three overseas cultivars. The genetic presentation of high molecular weight subunits (HMW-GS) in F1 seeds of the 15 cross and their parents were analyzed by SDS-PAGE method. Accumulation of HMW-GS in five high quality internal cultivars was analyzed by SDS-PAGE method. The results are as follows:1. None of the HMW-GS could be found before ten days after anthesis. The first HMW-GS that appeared tenth day after anthesis was the X-type subunit coded on Glu-1 loci. 35 days post anthesis all HMW-GS appeared.2. During grain formation, a part of HMW-GS appeared firstly and then more types followed gradually with the grain development. Individual HMW-GS accumulation increased gradually and the accumulative peak appeared from 20 days after anthesis to mature.3. The three models of accumulative trend are"line model","N model"and"M model";4. The forming succession of HMW-GS is 2+12,7,9,5,14+15. The subunits coded by Glu -D1 and Glu -B1 in the same cultivar appeared more earlyer than those coded by Glu-A1.5. Different accumulation is due to different cultivars, although which have the same HMW-GS composition.6. The bands of the same subunit are different between the F1 hybrids of direct and reciprocal cross. The bands from female parents are stronger than that from male parents, which indicated that the effect of subunit from female parents is greater than that from male parents.7. The HMW-GS showed complete expression in the F1 hybrid both from the cross among the Chinese cultivars and from the cross among the overseas cultivars.4 F1 hybrids among the 11 cross between Chinese and overseas cultivars performed incomplete expression of HMW-GS, with the deficiency frequency of 36%.
