There are 24 species in the Genus Paris of Family Trilliaceae in all, 19 of which have distribution in China. Paris is distributed in the temperate and tropical zone in Eurasia. China is an important centre of its distribution, especially the southwest of China. Some species of Paris are traditional Chinese crude drugs, and used widely They are significant for phylogenetic research of Angiosperm. Our research work focused on two aspects: The genetic and morphological evidence for sympatric speciation pattern of Paris from EMEI mountain and analyses of morphological differentiation within nine populations of Paris thibetica Franch and Paris thibetica Franch var.apetala Hand.—Maza(1) Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP) was used to analyze the differentiation of 2 natural species (Paris polyphylla smith var. minora S.F.Wang & Paris Thibetica Franch) of Paris of EMEI Mountain. The results suggested that high genetic differentiation and morphological differentiation of the Paris Thibetica Franch and Paris polyphylla var. minora in a geographical region.(2) By using the method of numerical statistics , the authors studied 18 morphological characters of 67 individuals from 9 populations from different habitats. The results suggested that the overall morphological differentiation of Paris thibetica Franch var. thibetica and Paris thibetica Franch var.apetala Hand.—Maza was somewhat unordered. The individuals of different species may fall into one cluster, while individuals within the same species mostly fall into the same cluster. It is inferred that there are certain amounts of morphological differentiation among species.
