There were a large numbers of pigs fed in Henan province , where the prevalence of Swine Fever was very severe. High incidence of Swine Fever on some farms threated to pig industry because it resulted in a high rate of mortality, and abortions, died and mummified fetuses. To control the epidemic spread of the disease in the province, clinical investigations, pathological examinations, rabbit inoculation tests and RT-PCR assays were conducted for 191 pigs suspected of Swine Fever on 25 farms. The results showed that Swine Fever positive rate averaged 77.4%, and that its epidemiology was characterized by high morbidity and mortality rates (especially on medium and small farms), mixed infections, breeding pigs with Swine Fever and rampant tendency. Comprehensive measurements which were adopted on 5 Swine Fever-infected farms resulted in good achievements. These measurements included checking up completely to set up swine group without the disease, constituting a proper program to increase immune capacity, carrying out whole batch in and out of growing and fattening pigs, and establishing strict regulation of disinfection and isolation. In recent years, the incidence of Swine Fever in piglets fell from 30% to zero and the nu mber of fattening pigs increased by 20%.
