Soil-superabsorbents could absorb a large amount of water in which the absorbed water was hardly removable, they were widely used in many fields. In this paper, the soil-superabsorbents was proposed using starch, acrylonitrile and 2-acrylamido-2- methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) and Mn[(H2P2O7)3]3- as initiator and crylic acid and N,N-methyleneacrylamide -as material and potassium persulfate as initiator. The structure , character and absorbent mechanism were also discussed.This paper reported the first successful attempt to graft compolymerize acrylonitrile and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) onto starch using Mn[(H2P2O7)3]3- as initiator. The graft polymer was determinated by infrared spectrum. The graft copolymerization in different reaction conditions was studied carefully. The optimal reaction condition corresponds to 5.0mole% AMPS in monomer, 1.5 for starch/monomer, a concentrate of 2×10-3mol/L for Mn[(H2P2O7)3]3- and a reaction temperature of 30.0℃; a reaction time of 60min or long.This paper also attempted to graft compolymerize crylic acid and N,N- methyleneacrylamide using potassium persulfate as initiator. Different reaction conditions was studied carefully which effected on the copolymerization, Based on the orthogonal experimental results, the best reaction condition was: w(crylic acid) was 5%, m(potassium persulfate):m(crylic acid) was 0.1:100, m(N,N-methyleneacrylamide):m(crylic acid) was 0.14:100,the neutralize of crylic acid was 75%,the temperature of reaction was 70℃,the time of reaction was three hours. The absorbency was 750gH2O per gram dry sample.To make soil-superabsorbent was the aim of this paper. Through the above two kinds of superabsorbent mixed at different proportion, the available soil-superabsorbent can be made. The effect factors of soil-superabsorbent were studied carefully, the good result was: the dry manner wan semis iron pan-vacuum,the proportion of two superabsorbent was 3:2, the size of soil-superabsorbent granule was 2mm, dry temperature was 75℃, the time of reaction was 5h.The effect of soil-superabsorbent to the growth of the mung bean, corn and wheat was studied. The results showed that: when the used superabsorbent at the range of 0.1%~0.3% in the soil, the living days and the height of plant of mung bean, corn and wheat increased when the used soil-superabsorbent increased. The living days and the height of plant still increased but the rate of the germination decreased when the used soil-superabsorbent was more than 0.3%.
