During the water resources management in the irrigation area, the determination of water consumption volume is a complicated work. Based on the water consumption mechanism, this study finds the influencing factors of water consumption caused by diversion of Yellow River. The spatial-temporal variability is discussed to support the study on the determination of water consumption volume. So, the study has both theoretical and practical sense for the modern river basin management.Qingtongxia irrigation area is the study area in this thesis. According to the principle of water cycle, the mechanism of water cycle in the area is analyzed in detail. Ulteriorly, based on theory of evapotransparation, infiltration and ground water movement, influencing factors of each water consumption item in the water cycle are determined. Through the database foundation, spatial-temporal variability of the main factors of water consumption is studied. The main contents and results are as follows:â‘ The mechanism of water cycle and water comsume in the study area is analyzed. Water consumption items consists of evaporation occourring on sorts of underlying surface, infiltration to the ground water system and domestic and industrial use. Further more, the influencing factors of water consume are determined.â‘¡Temporal serial analysis and wavelet analysis are applied to study the characteristics of the meteorologic elements in the area. Results show that the climate becomes aridification. The climate indexs change periodically and with persistence among some of them. Diversion from Yellow River has decreased in the recent 20 years. Ground water depth changes periodically according to the irrigation.â‘¢Spatial interpolation and geostatistical methods are used to study the spatial variability of the meteorologic elements and ground water depth in the area. It is found that it is warmer and more humid in the southern part than the northern one. The variogram shows the extent of spatial variability and continuity of ground water depth, and the distribution of it is achieved by kriging method.â‘£ Parameter-spatial-temporal variability analysis is advanced, together with the comparative analysis of spatial heterogeneity among different periods, the author discussed the spatial-temporal variation of the precipitation, ET0 and ground water depth in the irrigation, area. The distribution of precipitation and ET0 are found to have approximately periods with the average volume. The spatial variability of them is less distinctive in summer than in winter. Ground water depth has medium variability and periodical fluctuation within a year.
