Fagopyrum cymosum(Trev).Meisn is one of perennial herbs of the genus Polygonaceae in the Fagopyrum Mill family, and it is an important resource plant with rich nutrition and medicinal utilization values in which the flavonoids are its main bioactive components.Man has the increas-ing demand for Fagopyrum for its superiorities. However, it is in short supply as a medical plant because of the destruction of naturalenvironment, unlimited exploiting and cult technology. So, it has important economic and social sense producing natural medicament biotechnology.For the purpose of seeking new resources of Fagopyrum cymosum,we have done some research about flavonoids biosyntheses in cell suspension cluture of Fagopyrum cymosum. First,callus was separately induced from the root, stem and leaf of Fagopyrum cymosum on 4 MS medium with different concentration 6-BA and IBA.we obtained the red callus in which the flavonoids are highest component than other callus, and it to be used as initiative material in cell suspension cluture of Fagopyrum cymosum. then established the suspension cultures on 9 MS medium with different concentration 6-BA and 1BA, the results showed that:that the callus cultured in medium MS supplement with BA 1.0 mg·L-1+1BA 1.0 mg·L-1, was best for suspension cell growth.to set out cell growth curves and flavonoids accmulation curves,both were correlation and like "S". the maximal biomass and the production of flavonoids were obtained when the cell growth reached to the top at the 12th day.Meanwhile, influences of culture conditions (initiative cell weight,carbon,nitrogen in medium etc.)on cell suspension culture were studied. moreover, the optimum culture condition was screened thourgh mensurating cell fruit weight and the flavonoids quantum periodic, the results showed that the best condition for suspension cell growth was the modified MS medium withNH4+:NO3=20:40~30:30,5.0mmol·L-1 KH2PO4,0.5mmol·L-1 CaCl2·2H2O,l.5mmol·L-1MgSO4·7H 2O, 0.2mmoI·L-1FeSO4·7H2O, 3.0g·L-1sugar and 6-BA 1.0 mg/L+1BA 1.0mg/L,and added 25mL liquid medium with 1.2g(FW) cell, the best condition for flavonoids accmulation was the modified MS medium with NH4+:NO3=30:30, 5.0mmol·L-1KH2PO4, 1.5mmol·L-1CaCl2·2H2O, 2.0mmol·L-1 MgSO4·7H2O, 0.l5mmol·L-1 FeSO4·7H2O, 3.0g·L-1 sugar and 6-BA 1.0 mg/L+1BA 1.0mg/L,and added 25mL liquid medium with 0.8g(FW) cell.
