Seeds and seedlings of Jubaojinguan and Maofen802 were treated with colchicines .The result indicated that highest induction rate of Jubaojinguan and Maofen802 were 26.7%and 30% with optimum treatment combination of 0.4%/12h with treating the seeds,46.7%and50%with optimum treatment combination of 0.03%/8h with treating the seedings. The chromosome number of the mutated tomato (2n=4x=48) was twice that of the control.In addition,the leaf length,width area were larger ahd the leaf index was smaller than those of the diploid plants.The cold hardiness was compared between diploid tomato and tetraoploid tomato. The result indicated that the enzyme activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD) ,catelase(CAT) and pcroxidase(POD) of the tetrapploid tomato were improved, but,the content of MDA and the electrical rate were decreased.The contents of praline,soluble sugar and the electrical conductivity rate were great increment than that of control. The increase of the TTC reducing rate and decline of the electrical conductivity rate of the root and leave must synchronize perfeetly.The quality was compared between diploid tomato and tetraoploid tomato. The result indicated that the single fruit weight were decreased and the titratble acid were decreased,but the soluble sugar, soluble protein, soluble solid,Ascorbic acid,soluble solid,Lyconepe,ratio sugar and acid were improved.
