Artifically Induced Of Autotetraploid Watermelon And Breeded New Variety Of Seedless Watermelon

To gain tetraploid watermelon resource some diploid was treated with colchicine by means of soaking seeds before germination,dropping and daubing the terminal but of young plant.The analysis the whole character to every combination by SAS software,and analyzed based on sixteen F₁ hybrids which were crossed by four inbred lines used as female parents from four ecotypes and four inbred lines used as male parents from the same ecotype,chose a better new combination seedless variety from all of them,named 4X-017×N-083-1.The main results were concluded as follows:1.Dealing with the different experimental materials on the bud,young plant and seed with colchicines,when the concentration up to certain height,the poison strengthen will begin to bulid up,so the rate of bud and young plant also appear depressed phenomena.2.The morphologic appearance in field combined with chromosome count could obtain more exact and credible results about the ploidy of mutant plant identified,and could mostly reduce the research work in the lab.3.Of 16 combination,measure the maturation period,peel thick,average single fruit weight,yield,central and margin suger,stain seed or not,resistant to disease,and so on characters.The analysis their prominence in the different level with SAS software and LSD method.By two seasons trial experiment,the result shows that the best combination is 4X-017×N-083-1 in the whole character,which is middle-maturation,strong growth,easy setting fruit,high sugar and good taste,crisp and red fresh,good commodity and quality,single fruit 4-5kg,thin peep but very good shipper,high and stable yield.4.The analysis of trait heredity capacity and genetic correlation indicate that the heritability of the content of soluble solid substances in the watermelon center and edge, organic acid were relatively high in a broad or narrow sense,so they can enhance the quality character in watermelon breed by making full use of this theory directly.Not only improve the other characters,but also retain the primary quality which isnot effected.The study shows that the relation of fruit shape index and average single fruit weight can up to notable or special-notable level.It is very important in hybrid breeding.So we can augment the fruit width properly to increase the average single fruit weight,it is very useful in hybrid watermelon...
