This study was respectively conducted with weanling rabbits and weanling piglets to investigate the effect of Artemisia Linn extracts on the growth performance, immune function, serum biochemical indicator and serum hormone level. The purpose was to explain the mechanism of its effects preliminarily and to provide a scientific basis for Artemisia Linn extracts utilizing in Rex rabbits and piglets. In the trial one, forty-eight Rex rabbits with similar weight were selected and randomly divided into four groups with twelve rabbits per group. The control group A was fed on the basic ration, while group B, C, D (the experiment groups) were fed on basic ration added with I , II and III Artemisia Linn extracts at 0.25% respectively. The results showed that: (1) The extracts could improve the growth performance of the young rabbits, the average daily gain of group B, C, D increased by 17.73% (P<0.05) , 3.09% (P>0.05) and 0.98% (P>0.05) , and the feed/gain decreased by 16.40% (P<0.01) , 11.98% (P<0.05) and 10.11% (P<0.05) than the control group A respectively. The average daily feed intake of group B, C, D was all lower than the control, but there was no significant difference (P>0.05) . (2) The extracts had no obvious effect on immune function, serum biochemical indicator of the rabbits. In the trial two, twenty-seven piglets with similar weight were selected and randomly divided into three groups. Each groups included three replicates with 3 piglets. The control group A was fed on the basic ration, while group B, C which were the experiment groups were fed on basic ration added with I and II Artemisia Linn extracts at 0.25% respectively. The results showed that: (1) The extracts could improve the growth performance of the piglets efficiently. Compared with the control group A, the average daily gain of the experiment groups B, C increased by 18.92% and 27.03 % (P <0.01) ,the average daily feed intake decreased by 7.78% and 18.8% (P>0.05) and the feed/gain decreased by 10.98% and 7.32% (P>0.05) respectively. The diarrhea frequencies of the groups C was significantly lower than group A and group B, but there's no significant difference between group A and group B (P>0.05) . (2) The content of TP and ALB in blood serum of experiment group C was significantly higher than the control group A (P<0.05), and the content of GLO of the group C increased, but there was no significant difference (P>0.05) . Compared with the control, the content of protein in blood serum of experiment group B did not change significantly (P > 0.05 ). The content of BUN in blood serum of experiment groups B, C decreased by 15.08% and 1.26% than the control (P>0.05 ) .(3) Compared with the control, the content of Immunoglobulin in blood serum of experiment group B, C did not change significantly. (4) The level of INS of experiment group C was 7.87% higher than the control (P<0.01) , but the level of INS of experiment group B did not changed significantly ( P >0.05 ). The content of FT3 in blood serum of experiment groups B, C increased by 29.20% (P<0.01) and 17.96% (P<0.05) than the control. Compared with the control, the content of FT4 in blood serum of experiment groups all increased, but only the content of FT4 of experiment group C significantly increased (P<0.05) .All the results showed that the Artemisia Linn extracts could promote the growth, decrease disease, improve serum hormone level and feed utilization of the young rabbits and the piglets. But it could not enhance the immune function of the young rabbits and the piglets. The I Artemisia Linn extracts is best for Rex rabbits and II is best for piglets.
