The summer climate always has a bad effect on dairy industry especially in the south of our country. A control system of cooling equipments in dairy farm based on THI and irradiance is introduced in this paper. It's very suitable for the environment in the south of China.The control system is reliable and it can be installed easily. It uses THI (Temperature-humidity index) and irradiance as the chief control parameters to reduce the heat stress of dairy cattle efficiently. According to the breed and the life style of dairy cows, users can config different parameters to improve the condition of cowshed with the support of cooling equipments.The system consists of control unit and power driving unit. The control unit is a monitoring instrument adopting 51 as a core device. Its user interface is friendly, all the LCD and LED display system are included. It can also indicate the environment conditions and running status of different equipments. Both remote controller and keyboard are supported in the monitoring instrument. The power driving unit has many general output interfaces, including magnetic valve, fans, water pump, etc. All this cooling equipments can be used directly. Combining with the monitoring instrument and power driving unit, the cooling equipments can establish an environment that is fit for dairy cows automatically.This paper mainly presents the hardware and software design of the control system.
