In order to investigate the breeding application of photo-thermo period sensitivegenic male sterile rice labeled with different leaf color marker which were obtained byirradiation,the leaf color characters, genetic characters and main agronomic traits ofthe 17 photo-thermo period sensitive genic male sterile lines and the maincharacteristic of their hybrids were studied .The main results were as following:The stage from 1th to 3th leaves (except w1 and w7) ,the leave of these mutantsare white in color ,from the growing stage of 4th leave ,the leave color begin to turngreen ,from the stage of 6th to 9th leaves,the leaf color is normal in green andwould not change. After transplantation,the leaf color of w1 and w7 would turn towhite and then recover to green and at the 11th leaf stage, their leaves would turn togreen completely. According to the characteristic of their leaf color, the mutants maybe divided into four types: albino to pale-green type , such as 21w4;abino-regreening-albino-regreening type, such as w1,w7; albino to kelly type, suchas w9,21w1,21w10; albino regreening type, such as w2,w3, w4, w10, 21w2, 21w6,21w7, 21w9, 21w11, 21w12, 21w13.In addition, the temperature can affect thecharacteristics of albino regreening.Genetic study indicated that, the mutated green-revertible albino leaf color traitof most of the mutants were controlled by a single recessive gene except the 21w1was controlled by a single dominant gene.The mutants of w-lines showed decrease in plant height,panicle length,third leavefrom top,floret length and increase in panicle exsertion,flag leave,outcrossing rate.Compared with Peiai64s ,there is no difference in grain number per panicle.betweenw-lines and Peiai64s .Heading day of these mutants was later than that ofpeiai64s .The panicle length ,flag leave,secondary branch and floret number perpanicle of the mutants of 21w-Series were lower than those of se21s ,the width offloret,single-outcrossing rate and outcrossing rate of the 21 w-lines were higherthan those of the se21s.However ,the mutants headed 1-2 days longer than that ofse21s.There were no signifiant differences between mutants and se21s in third leavefrom top,floret number and floret length.The critical points of temperature of these mutants are similar to the originallines.The hybrids of these mutants labeled with color marker had similar caracteristics with original-hybrids in plant type and the developing of tillers and height.The dif-ferrent hybrids showed different yield components. The yield of w-hybrids(w-lines×Jiaail) was all lower than that of original-hybrids and the yield of21 w-hybrids. (21w-lines×Minghui86) was all higher than that oforiginal-hybrids.The yields showed differences with different mutation type anddifferent heredity backgrounds.
