The erect crownvetch strain is a hybrid which was selected from crownvetch Lvbaoshi population. The biological characters, botanical characters, agronomical performance, growth dynamic change, productive performance and quality, biomass of different phonological stage and NaCl resistance of seedling of upstanding crownvetch strain were studied compared with crownvetch lvbaoshi. The results showed:1) The erect crownvetch strain is tall, even. The pinnate length, stem diameters and internode length of primary stem were significantly higher than crownvetch Lvbaohi.2) The growing period of erect crownvetch strain is about 110~120 days in Jingtai county seat. It regreen in the last ten-day of April and ripen in the middle ten-day of August.3)The dry yield and vegetable yield of erect crownvetch strain were significantly higher than that of crownvetch Lvbaoshi. The average dry yield and vegetable yield of two years were 2.96kg/m2 and 13.65kg/m2 respectively, which was much higher than that of crownvetch Lvbaoshi .The new strain can be mowed three times each year. The percentage of first harvest dry yield is 65% in the total dry yield harvest. The percentage of second and third harvest dry yield was 21% and 14% respectively. The seed yield of erect crownvetch strain was much lower than that of crownvetch Lvbaoshi.4) The new strain grows fast before flowering period compaired with crownvetch Lvbaoshi. The crude protein content of first harvest was 16.01%, higher than that of crownvetch Lvbaoshi (15.62%). The results of yield and quality dynamic analyzing showed that the optimum mowing stage was bud appearing to 10% flowering period.5) The erect crownvetch strain has the capability of resisting NaCl stress, the rate of germination, stem height, relative leaf area, the fresh weight of above ground part and some physiochemcial and biochcmcial index were determined. The results showed that with the increase of NaCl concentration, germination process was delayed. The germination rate, relative germination index were all decreased as NaCl concentration increased. Under NaCl stress, the height growth, the area of total leaves, the fresh weight of the part above ground of Crownvetch seedlings were inhibited, and this inhibition lied on the NaCl concentration and stress days. The erect crownvetch seedlings have the adaptability under 0-0.6% NaCl stress condition. The new strain is a better pasture that can be planted in saline soil.
