In this thesis the primary studies on the antifungal activity of Inula helenium (Compositae) as well as the antibacterial compound in its extract was conducted. The antifungal activity of I. helenium extract was tested by means of mycelial growth method, conidial germination method, potted seedlings method and detached leaves method. The results showed that Ethanol extract and methanol extract of I. helenium exhibited different inhibitory activities against Pseudoperonospora cubensis, Sphaerotheca fuliginea, Colletotrichum orbiculare, Botrytis cinerea and Fulvia fulva, EtOH extract of I. helenium showed stronger antifungal activities than mEtOH extract.Aqueous suspension of ethanol extract is partitioned by three different polar solvents:petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, one by one, by Counter Current Distribution, the four pastes were gained by concentrating the extracts under the reduced pressure. The three paste extracts from petroleum ether phase, chloroform phase, ethyl acetate phase, except the paste left in the aqueous phase, had inhibitory activities against Colletotrichum orbiculare, Botrytis cinerea and Fulvia fulva, Among the extracts partitioned with three organic solvents, the extracts in petroleum ether phase and chloroform phase had higher inhibitory activities.SampleⅠ(purity>95%) and sampleⅡwere isolated from petroleum ether fraction by column chromatograph, thin layer chromatograh and recrystallization Based on the spectrum analysis of 13C-NMR, UV and IR, SampleⅠwas identified as Isoalantolactone.Besides, sampleⅠinhibited mycelial growth of Botrytis cinerea and Fulvia fulva by 66.73% and 35.2% at the concentration 10mg/mL.
